As we live out the core value of practicing risk-taking mission and service, we believe it is vital that we know the needs in our neighborhood and our world.

We invest our time and energy into partnering with established agencies and ministries, or creating new ones, that alleviate the suffering of others and make a significant impact in transforming the world. We are committed to mobilizing people to make a difference, and live out their faith through serving others.

ChainReaction Ministries – is a signature ministry initative of our congregation. CRM recycles bicycles by linking donors with identified needs in the community. We provide freedom of transportation to those in need by linking donors with identified needs throughout the city of Houston.

The secret to CRM’s success is linking the donor with the recipient. People have an emotional attachment to their bicycles. It was their first bike, or their kid’s first bike – and they don’t simply want to set it on the curb, or donate it to a large, faceless charity. They want to know that their bike can provide the same freedom and hope to a person in need that they experienced. CRM takes bicycles in any condition, and either fixes them up, or strips them for parts, then recycles the metal components – thus providing recycling in the following areas:

Recycling of used bicycles to identified persons in need – satisfying a need for basic transportation and/or recreation to adults and kids.
Recycling of unusable metal scrap – satisfying a need for the continued recycling of metals – keeping it out of landfills.
Since 2009 we have recycled hundreds of bikes through these partner organizations:

Westside Homeless Partnership
Memorial Assistance Ministries
West Houston Assistance Ministires
HOPE House – Kashmere Gardens
Covenant Community Capital
Boys and Girls Club of Houston

Believing in the power of a simple gift of comfort, these women gather weekly on Tuesday mornings to create lap quilts, shawls and bags that are filled with small toys, games and art supplies. These gifts are shared with children who are waiting to testify against their abusers, and with senior adult residents of Stoney Brook Healthcare Center. You are welcome to join them as they create these items, or to donate fabric or materials.
