Teaching Haiti

One of the missions that Memorial Drive Christian Church supports is Teaching Haiti. Their focus is on providing students, teachers and caregivers a selection of educational and hygiene resources, books, supplies and equipment for their future.

MISSION STATEMENT

Encourage Haitians to empower themselves through education and love for one another.

 

Teaching Haiti is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has three branches:

1. Haitian Mountain Organization (HMO)Help the mountain people of Les Palmes, Petit-Goave with medical, spiritual and agricultural needs, including access to clean water.

 

2. Nelio School of Information Technology (NESIT)Two year licensed computer network systems school in Petit-Goave, Haiti for students age 17 and older.
 

3. Mountain Educational Project (MEP)Sponsorship for children’s educational needs, including school lunch program.

Ongoing Needs (monetary and donations)
    • $420 per month for salaries
  • Computers and computer equipment
  • 2 IP Cameras
  • Services needed for Webmaster and Grant Writer
 
Ongoing Needs (personal and hygiene)
  • Sewing kits including dark color thread, needles, straight pins, thimble, scissors
  • Toothpaste, tooth brush, bar soap
  • Playing cards, pens, pencils, eye drops, sunglasses
  • Reading glasses (+1.50, +1.75, +2.00, +2.25, +2.50)
  • Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, band-aides, antibiotic cream, chap stick, petroleum jelly, etc
