Welcome to God's Backyard
Ministry to Children
Christian education begins at birth, and our infants and toddlers are welcomed into the loving arms of our crib and toddler workers.
Children 18 months-2 years and 3-4 years-olds have their own special classes where they explore how God and Jesus love them. Lessons are intertwined with plenty of time to play for this active group. The lesson is taught during both the Sunday School hour and the 10:45 a.m. service.
The Sunday school journey for first and second graders begins during the 9:30-10:30 a.m. hour. At 10:30 , parents are requested to pick up their children for the beginning of worship in the sanctuary. "A Time for Children" is their special children's moment with the ministers. They then leave and return to their Sunday school classroom to continue their class. Their program combines art, music, cooking, puzzles and games, stories and videos, giving them interactive Christian activities. By the end of second grade they should have the groundwork for spiritual growth toward a mature faith in Christ and to develop spiritual gifts for ministry.
Intermediate students in Grades 3-5 also meet in the Children's Building during the Sunday School hour. They are involved in studying familiar Bible stories through interactive lessons. These students are encouraged to worship with their parents during the 10:45 service.
On Sunday evening our families worship together at 4:50 and we have snack supper at 5:30 . At 5:45 elementary students begin a children's Bible Study and once a month they participate in children's choir. Their program ends at 7:00 p.m.
The Children's Ministry team also hosts special activities during the year which include a Fall Festival, Birthday Party for Jesus, Children's Christmas Program, Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School , Camps and a summer activity program. |
